Awards Scholarship to Linguist and former Army
Special Operations Team Alpha Member

WASHINGTON, D.C.,
10 September 2010 –The Lint Center, a non-profit
charity based in Aberdeen, Md., awarded the 2010
Jim & Anna Hyonjoo Lint Scholarship to Boris Kogan. This scholarship is the
largest offered by the Center to date and aims
to support undergraduate and post-graduate
educational pursuits of scholars interested in
Counterintelligence, International Affairs, and
National Security Studies.
This scholarship
provides $1,500 to the winner to assist with
tuition and other educational costs, a mentor
from the Lint Center, as well as a one year
subscription to STRATFOR.
“Boris Kogan has
demonstrated a clear commitment to the defense
of our nation and his essay on
counterinsurgencies comes from a perspective of
an experienced individual, with on the ground
knowledge who can speak to needed operational
and strategic reforms when addressing
insurgencies,” said James Lint, Chairman and CEO
of the Lint Center for National Security
Studies. “The Center was impressed by his
military service in the US Army and as a member
of a Special Operations Team Alpha during
Operation Iraqi Freedom. We are pleased to
support this winner and expect him to continue
to excel.”

for America to “adopt a fundamentally new,
exponentially more cost-effective way of

About the Jim and Anna Hyonjoo Lint Scholarship:
The
Jim and Anna Hyonjoo Lint Scholarship is the
Center’s most prestigious and largest financial
award, providing $1,500 to the winner to support
tuition and other educational costs of the
winner. This scholarship is offered to help
further the education and career development of
scholars, especially in the areas of
International Affairs, Counterintelligence and
National Security. Workers in these fields and
their children are encouraged to apply with the
goal of improving national security and global
understanding.

Winner, Boris Kogan on 5 March 2011. Kogan’s essay entitled, “The Basmachi:

Mr. Kogan is the first Lint Center
