Lint Center for National Security Studies Announces 2010 Ben Franklin Scholarship Winner
Lint Center Awards Scholarship to Aspiring Diplomat and Scholar

The Lint Center for
National Security Studies announced the winner of its annual Ben
Franklin Scholarship. The Lint Center, a non-profit charity
based in Aberdeen, Md., awarded the 2010 Ben Franklin
Scholarship to K. The Lint Center’s Ben Franklin
Scholarship was created in 2009 to identify, support, and mentor
young people who recognize the importance of America’s use of
diplomacy and the tangible benefits of cultural awareness in
international affairs, and encourage their leadership in the
fields of counterintelligence and national security.
“We are pleased to award this scholarship
to Ms. K,” said James Lint, chairman of the Lint Center for
National Security Studies. “Her hard work and ambition will
surely fuel her continued success in this field. The Lint Center
is pleased to support her continued education and to assist her
through the Center’s mentoring program.”
In addition to a $500 scholarship, K
will receive a national security mentor provided by the Lint
Center who can provide career guidance. Due to the generosity
and continued support of the world’s leading private
intelligence company, Strategic Forecasting, Inc. (Stratfor),
K will also receive a one-year subscription to Stratfor’s
Subscription Service, which includes industry leading
intelligence reports providing situational awareness,
geopolitical analysis, and analytically rigorous forecasting.

About the Ben Franklin Scholarship:
Named in honor of American statesman and
diplomat Ben Franklin, the Ben Franklin Scholarship, initiated
in 2009, provides $500 to help defray the costs of undergraduate
and graduate studies to recipients pursuing scholastic study
related to America’s use of diplomacy or “soft power,” and the
tangible benefits of cultural awareness in international
affairs. Some of the key themes of interest include human
security (economic security, food security, health security, and
environmental security), conflict resolution, and personal
diplomacy. The focus is on alternative uses, strategies, and
tactics to ensure America’s security at home and aboard.
