WINNER: Joey Kirshy (2012)

Joey Kirshy is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in International Security Studies at the University of Arizona, after attending the American Military University’s National Security Studies Master’s program for one year. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 2011 with a BA in Middle Eastern Studies, minoring in Arabic, Political Science, and Business Administration. Throughout Joey’s undergraduate and graduate studies, he has been employed as a full-time Student Intern with the US Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection Office of the Border Patrol. He was assigned to a joint operations center focused on combating transnational threats, having Department of Justice Mexican Cartels and Ambush Tactics of Tijuana Cartels Training, as well as Security Safeguarding Classified National Security Information and Security Anti-Terrorism Overview training. In tandem with his education and on-the-job experience, Joey’s upbringing on Military bases around the world, with an experienced federal civil servant for a mother and a 20-year soldier for a father, plans on pursuing an Intelligence Officer position within a Counterintelligence Unit after graduation.
