Lint Center’s ‘Ben Franklin’ Scholarship ($500)
WINNER: Tamara Simunovic (2009)

“Hertzegovka by birth, Croatian by nature, my early memories compose of gunpowder and ashes.  Born amidst a civil war, most of my family scattered across the globe and I suffered from post traumatic stress syndrome until I was seven.  The war destroyed my family’s assets and left me without a father.  As a freshman at University of South Florida I served as a senator for the College of Arts and Science during the spring 2009 semester.  In addition I was an active member of Students Against Genocide (STAND) and the fundraising chair for Model United Nations.”
